About Tokannata

Flexible and responsible Tokannata loves literature and languages and is always working to improve his understanding of English. He dreams of becoming an English teacher “in order to improve the education system for future generations.” As he comes from an urban and highly populated city, Tokannata is a community leader and active in different events and celebrations. He enjoys participating in dance competitions and holiday parades.

Tokannata’s favorite hobby is soccer as one of his idols is Christiano Ronaldo. As an added benefit, Tokannata also finds soccer to be “fun and entertaining, and a way to relax after a stressful day.” When he isn’t playing soccer with his friends, Tokannata can often be found fishing with his cousins as this is an easy way for him to help provide fish for his family. Tokannata has a close bond with his friends and is able to go to them for advice and support as he trusts their judgment.

While in the US, Tokannata is looking forward to living with a host family and is excited to “introduce my country, culture, and traditions to them!” He is especially hoping to teach them aspects of his culture like language, dance, and handcrafts. Tokannata also hopes that his host family will help him learn about American culture, different technologies, and day-to-day life. He prides himself on being honest and respectful of others, qualities he knows will be important in helping him create lasting relationships while in the US!
